Anti-Blackburn PAC announces itself

A new political action committee called Smoky Mountain Values PAC has been launched to oppose Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn’s bid for the U.S. Senate.

“We’ve been shocked to see today’s Tennessee Republican Party shred that proud tradition by inching closer and closer to nominating someone as extreme as Marsha Blackburn as their candidate for the U.S. Senate,” the group’s co-founder Kyle Tharp said in a release.

Other than saying that some of the organizers no longer live on Tennessee, there’s little hint of who’s behind the PAC.

WASHINGTON, DC – A new political action committee founded by an all-volunteer group of grassroots Tennesseans plans to spend the coming months educating voters throughout Tennessee and working to prevent fringe Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn from being elected to the United States Senate.

“Whether it was Al Gore, Phil Bredesen, Bill Haslam, or Lamar Alexander, Tennessee has a long history of electing moderate problem solvers to public office. We’ve been shocked to see today’s Tennessee Republican Party shred that proud tradition by inching closer and closer to nominating someone as extreme as Marsha Blackburn as their candidate for the U.S. Senate.” says Kyle Tharp, a co-founder of Smoky Mountain Values PAC.

“A few of us don’t live in Tennessee anymore, but as folks who have lived nearly all of our lives in the state, we felt the need to start this effort because we know Marsha Blackburn doesn’t share our Tennessee values. For example, while Marsha’s been in Washington, she’s made it easier for billion-dollar international drug corporations to trap our families and communities into a growing opioid crisis. [Watch the 60 Minutes investigation of Marsha Blackburn here] …She’s done absolutely nothing to protect our children from the growing threat of school shootings.”

“…She’s fought tooth and nail against anything getting done in Congress to fix healthcare, or immigration, or education, or infrastructure, or jobs. And although she’s a been a member of Paul Ryan’s leadership team for years, she tries to act like she’s some DC outsider. In fact, Marsha Blackburn is exactly what’s wrong with Washington.”

In the coming months, Smoky Mountain Values will work to run original campaigns to highlight Marsha Blackburn’s out-of-touch policy track record in various outlets. If you’d like to contribute to Smoky Mountain Values PAC, click here.

    Good !

So these out of state folks are politically to the left of Marsha Blackburn? And my greatest fear with Blackburn is that she is a fake conservative and is posing to get elected. I am all for out of state money when it comes to tourism. Not so on politics. Let’s find out who these folks are…..

    • Stuart I. Anderson says:

There is lots to fear when some mega buck candidate decides it would be fun to hold high public office so with little or no political record he hires some expensive pros who run a bunch of adds touting him as the “conservative” answer to all of our problems. When you have a candidate like Marsha Blackburn who served in the State Senate for four years where she quickly became a conservative leader most famously successful in fighting the income tax proposed by a Republican governor and then went on to be elected to the House in 2002 there is no place to hide and no reason for conservatives to fear.

Marsha has an average of 83% over the last eight years from Heritage Action, a Lifetime Liberty Score of B80% from the Conservative Review, and she has gained the highly coveted endorsement from the economic conservative Club For Growth. She’s simply proven herself to be a mainstream conservative that Tenn. conservatives can support with confidenc.

No surprise here. Anti-Trumpers do not want to deal with any true conservatives. They would rather have a never Trumper pro-globalist like corker. They can pull his strings much easier. Wave a little money, and……. soros et al are beginning to panic. History will never give them another chance like this no matter how much money they throw around. Damned Deplorables are getting wiser by the hour!

  • Eddie White says:

Wow, they put Al Gore in the moderate category. That is about all I need to know about this group.

  • Lance Persson says:

I wonder if the ones who are part of the PAC are the moderates mentioned in the article. “Whether it was Al Gore, Phil Bredesen, Bill Haslam, or Lamar Alexander, Tennessee has a long history of electing moderate problem solvers to public office.” We sure don’t need any more like them.

I oppose Marsha Blackburn based upon her values. My son developed an addiction to opiates back in high school after a surgery. He was easily able to purchase them at school because big pharm had flooded the market with more pills than ever could be prescribed. He died of an accidental overdose on March 9 2018 after 6 years of trying with our Dr’s help, through several stays in rehab, etc to end his addiction. We did not know initially how addictive opiates are and how the drug companies made a fortune on the deaths of so many Americans. Martha Blackburn surely helped them continue their destruction. i wrote her office the week my son died. I wanted to put a face to the opiate crisis happening right in her back yard. Do you think she or anyone on her staff bothered to respond? No, they did not. She needs to not be elected to the Senate.

  • James White says:

Alas, Marsha Blackburn votes and cosponsors bills to give Amnesty to Illegal Aliens.
