Karl Dean launches statewide TV ad

Democrat Karl Dean is launching a statewide ad in support of his gubernatorial bid.

Here’s the release:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 14, 2018) — The Karl Dean for Governor campaign will begin airing television ads in all seven media markets across Tennessee starting tomorrow.

The first ad titled “Rising” features the former Mayor of Nashville as the narrator, talking about how he led the city through the Great Recession by staying focused on the basics of better schools, safer neighborhoods and attracting jobs.

“Through the Great Recession, we were able to keep Nashville rising by remembering that everything is connected,” Dean says in the ad. “As governor, I’ll bring that same approach to building local economies that I did as mayor.”

The ad resurfaces a familiar theme of “it’s all connected,” which Dean has used to describe his priorities since his first mayoral campaign in 2007. “Better schools and safer neighborhoods helped attract companies and thousands of jobs,” Dean explains in his first gubernatorial campaign ad.

“It’s a message that we know resonates with voters,” Courtney Wheeler, Dean’s campaign manager, said. “Tennesseans want a common-sense leader who will get things done. That’s what Mayor Dean did for Nashville and that’s what he’ll do for Tennessee.”

More about Dean’s common-sense approach to leadership will be detailed in a series of subsequent TV ads that will run continuously through the August primary.

“We have been building a strong grassroots base in all 95 counties and now it’s time to take our message to a bigger audience,” Wheeler said. “Mayor Dean has the most individual contributors than anyone else running for governor, which is another exciting indication that the momentum continues to build in the campaign.”
