Rose ad hits back at ‘Swampy Bob Corlew’

Former Agriculture Commissioner John Rose’s congressional campaign is hitting back at Republican rival Bob Corlew, saying he was called a “dedicated Democrat” when he ran for judge and tried to give himself a 775% pay raise as a member of the Murfreesboro City Council in the 1980s.

“Swampy Bob Corlew cannot change Washington, he’s part of the problem,” the narrator says. “Part of the swamp.”

Corlew ad picks up on opponent-as-child theme

Former Murfreesboro Judge Bob Corlew’s latest TV ad in the Republican primary for the 6th Congressional District portrays his opponent John Rose as a child.

It’s a theme we’ve seen before this election season in an ad run by House Speaker Beth Harwell against her Republican rivals in the governor’s race. Who did it better?

 

GOP Rep. Rohrabacher campaigns for Matheny

State Rep. Judd Matheny hasn’t been been able to keep pace with his Republican rivals for the 6th Congressional District nomination so far, but he’s been getting some high-profile endorsements from members of the House Freedom Caucus, including founder Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and now Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.).

Matheny faces John Rose, a former state agriculture commissioner, and Bob Corlew, a former judge, in the Republican contest to succeed Rep. Diane Black, who is running for governor.

Corlew puts $1.3M into 6th Congressional District campaign, topping Rose’s $1M

Bob Corlew reports loaning $1.3 million to his campaign for the Republican nomination in the 6th Congressional District in his initial disclosure report to the Federal Election Commission.

That put him slightly ahead of John Rose in cash on hand as of March 31. Rose had loaned his campaign $500,000 and added another $500,000 loan in the new report for a $1 million self-financing total. Both men are dramatically ahead, at least financially speaking, of state Rep. Judd Matheny of Tullahoma. Corlew contends that Matheny’s campaign is actually in debt.

Rose takes big money lead over Matheny in 6th Congressional District GOP primary

Former state agriculture commissioner John Rose has a huge campaign financing lead over state Rep. Judd Matheny in the 7th Congressional District Republican primary, according to new reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Rose reports a cash-on-hand balance of $693,704 versus Matheny’s balance of $34,701.

In 6th Congressional District, Rose takes big money lead over Matheny with $250K loan and Haslam help

Former state Agriculture Commissioner Charles Rose has loaned his campaign for the 6th Congressional District Republican nomination $250,000, giving him a strong financial advantage over state Rep. Judd Matheny in the race to succeed U.S. Rep. Diane Black, according to disclosures filed with the Federal Election Commission this week.

The reports show Rose, who owns a farm and runs a small business in DeKalb County, raised $292,450 in contributions and, with the $250,000 loan, his campaign had $542,450 in receipts. He reported $74,421 in expenditures, leaving a cash-on-hand balance of $468,038 on Oct. 1.

Matheny reported $166,544 in donations to his campaign and $62,458 in expenditures, leaving a cash balance of $104,086. He reported no loans.
