VP Pence again declares support for Blackburn

Vice President Mike Pence, who had already donated to U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn through his political action committee last year, on Monday sent out a tweet declaring he supports her bid for a U.S. Senate seat. The Blackburn campaign produced a press release and the Times Free Press says Pence effectively “doubled down” on backing Blackburn.

Press release from the Marsha Blackburn campaign (sent out Monday)

Brentwood, Tenn.-  Today, Vice President Mike Pence announced his endorsement of Marsha Blackburn for U.S. Senate, building on his previous support.

Vice President Mike Pence tweeted, “PROUD to support our friend @VoteMarsha for US Senate representing Tennessee. Marsha Blackburn is a rock-ribbed conservative who has been a champion of President Trump’s pro-jobs, pro-military, AMERICA FIRST agenda & will be critical ally in the Senate. She has our full support!”

“Vice President Pence is a distinguished conservative leader, and I am grateful for his endorsement,” added Marsha Blackburn. “When the Vice President served in the House of Representatives, we worked to advance conservative policies. His strong leadership continues in the White House. I appreciate his advice and friendship as we share our message with Tennesseans. I look forward to continuing to work with him to pass President Trump’s agenda in the United States Senate.”

As Politico reported in November, Pence has already been supportive of Blackburn’s campaign citing her “steadfast” support of the White House.

I believe that Vice President Pence comes closer to representing the values and world outlook of a vast majority of Tennesseans than the ultra-liberal salons on the east side of Manhattan who Bredesen looks to for support.

Hey, MARSHALL BLACKBURN couldn’t beat Megan Berry. Also, Marshall don’t forget to tell your supporters how you threw The Retired Military UNDER THE BUS on OUR EARNED PRESCRIPTIONS. Also, ANYBODY BUT JUDD MATHENY.

  • Fred Combs says:

Pence only did what is was expected to do – support the candidate that is a 100% follower of Trump. Unfortunately, Marsha Blackburn has never really stepped forward with her own ideas, her own ways of fixing things. All she has said is mimicking everything that Trump has said. Her hope is that there are enough Trump supporters that will blindly vote for her – but, she will be proven wrong wrong.

    • Stuart I. Anderson says:

That’s odd. Trump has been in office for a little over a year. Marsha entered the House of Representatives in 2003 and before that she served in the Tennessee Senate for four years as she led the fight against the income tax and served with enough distinction to warrant her election to the House. So in all that time she “. . .never really stepped forward with her own ideas. . .” rather “All she has said is mimicking everything that Trump has said.”

Who would have known! Thanks Fred for your valuable insight.

Stuart can’t distinguish the difference between what Marsha says and what Marsha does. See her poor voting record here: http://mickeywhite.blogspot.com/2009/09/tn-congressman-marsha-blackburn-votes.html

      • Stuart I. Anderson says:

Well, Tennessee conservatives you have a choice when evaluating Marsha’s record. You can go to Mickey White’s – “Americanist” where every year they pick out a handful of what they regard as key votes out of the hundreds that Marsha casts or you can go to the iconic Heritage Foundation’s political arm Heritage Action where every year they pick about sixty key votes together with legislation sponsorships in rating members of Congress. Having done so over the past eight years and hundreds of key votes Heritage gives Marsha an average score of 82%. Need a second opinion, how about Mark Levin’s notoriously tough grading Conservative Review which gives Marsha a lifetime Liberty Score of B (80%). How about a third opinion, that of the prestigious Club For Growth that gives Marsha a Lifescore of 90%

James is a bit, shall we say “eccentric,” but lovably so and often the source of valuable information which I enjoy reading but this is election time conservatives and we are talking about control of the U. S. Senate so its time to get serious. Marsha is conservative enough for conservatives like me, while not too conservatives for the tepid conservatives and right leaning centrists. “Perfect,” no; but certainly good enough and good enough is good enough!
